WHAT IS A FALL MINI SESSION?

A mini session is a shorter, simplified version of a full session—perfect for families who want updated portraits without the time or investment of a full shoot. My fall minis are about 15 minutes long and take place at a gorgeous, hand-picked location in the Atlanta area during peak fall color. You still get that glowy, joyful, timeless style I’m known for, just in a shorter time frame (and yes, we move fast!).

WHY BOOK A MINI?

Let’s be honest - family photos can be a lot.

Minis are ideal because:

They're short and sweet (great for kids with limited attention spans!)

You’ll have a curated location and natural light all ready for you.

It’s a quick way to update your family portraits or prep for holiday cards.

You get professional images without committing to a full session

HOW TO CHOOSE THE BEST TIME SLOT

If you have younger kids, light and timing are key. Morning slots tend to work best for early risers. Littles are often happier and more cooperative earlier in the day. Golden hour (the hour before sunset) gives the dreamiest light—but it can overlap with dinnertime or meltdowns if naps were skipped. Think about when your kids are happiest and most rested, and choose that time—even if it’s not technically golden hour. Happy faces > golden light! I can make magic happen at any time of day.

What to wear

I have an extensive style guide on my website to help you! Here's a highlight of what I always recommend:

1. Coordinate, Don’t Match:

Start with one outfit you love (maybe a floral dress or a textured sweater), and build around it with complementary tones. Think soft neutrals, rust, sage, deep plum, denim, ivory, and camel.

2. Add Texture:

Knits, linen, corduroy, ruffles, boots, vests,—textures photograph beautifully and add interest without patterns becoming distracting.

3. Avoid Logos & Neon Colors:

They tend to date the photos or distract from your sweet faces.

4. Think Movement:

Long dresses or skirts create gorgeous movement. They also add a soft, timeless feel to the images.

HOW TO PREP YOUR KIDS -WITHOUT BRIBES THAT BACKFIRE.

We’re not aiming for perfect—we’re aiming for connection. That said, here’s how to set your crew up for success:

Talk it up! Let them know it’s going to be fun, quick, and all about snuggling and playing.

Bring a comfort item if needed—a lovey, snack, or paci (we can hide it quickly).

Don’t stress over smiles. Some of my favorite images are the quiet, cuddly ones.

Avoid sugar beforehand. It might seem like a good idea, but a sudden sugar crash mid-session? Not cute.

The goal is to capture real joy—which often looks like giggles, twirls, and sweet in-between moments.

HOW TO PREPARE - SO YOU FEEL CALM.

Lay out outfits the night before. Arrive early. That way, you have time to park, do last-minute hair checks, and walk over without rushing. Hydrate and eat. Hungry toddlers (and dads) are never the vibe.

Fall minis are such a sweet, simple way to bottle up this season of life—chubby toddler cheeks, missing teeth, laughs, and the way your family holds onto each other. If you're thinking about booking, don’t wait—these sessions fill up fast every year. I’d love nothing more than to photograph your family this year!
